Apprentice Solicitor
About the role
- Assist solicitors with progressing client matters and preparing files
- Speak with clients by telephone, email and in person
- Attend client meetings and prepare attendance notes
- Draft letters, emails and legal documents under supervision
- Carry out legal research and review documents
- Assist with Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney family and probate matters
- Gain experience in areas including family law, employment law and civil litigation
- Use the firm’s case management and legal software
- Help maintain accurate client records and keep files up to date
- Develop knowledge of compliance, confidentiality and anti-money laundering requirements
- Support the wider team with the day-to-day running of a busy law firm
- Take on increasing responsibility as skills, knowledge and confidence develop
Working week
Monday to Thursday 9 am-3 pm.

Required qualifications
Training & development
On successful completion of the apprenticeship and the requirements for admission, the apprentice will be eligible to qualify as a solicitor. We hope to offer the successful apprentice a long-term career with My Local Solicitor, with opportunities to develop a specialism and take on greater responsibility as they gain experience. Any qualified solicitor role would depend on performance and the firm’s needs at the time.
Things to consider
The successful applicant will need to attend our Malpas office during their agreed working hours and complete the training required by the apprenticeship provider. The role involves handling confidential client information, so the successful applicant will be subject to appropriate pre-employment checks.
