About the role
Typical duties for a student nurse include:
- Assist registered nurses and other clinical staff with the delivery of high-quality patient care
- Under the supervision of a registered nurse perform and record clinical observations including blood pressure, pulse, blood tests, ECGs
- Assist with preparing clinical areas, equipment and supplies
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in accordance with organisational policies
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures and maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety
- Follow all relevant health and safety, safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional policies.
- Participate in training, supervision, assessments, and educational activities associated with the apprenticeship.
- Develop clinical knowledge and practical nursing skills through supervised learning and experience
- Undertake other appropriate duties within the scope of the apprenticeship and level of competence
Working week
Monday - Friday, 8.30am - 4.00pm.

Training & development
- 2.5 days hands-on experience within the GP practice, 2.5 days distance learning with University of Derby

Upon successful completion of the programme, you will be eligible to apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
