About the role

  • You’ll help build a clear picture of each client’s business, goals and challenges, then see how HSBC brings the right people together to respond.
  • You could help prepare client presentations, reports and credit papers, support strategic reviews and pitches, and carry out financial analysis and risk assessments on portfolios and transactions.
  • You’ll also work with colleagues across Legal, Credit and Risk to understand how we deliver tailored solutions responsibly. Across your placements.
  • You’ll get early exposure to client-facing work and see how strong relationships are built, grown and protected over time.

Working week

Current hybrid expectations is a minimum of 60% (3 days per week) of your working week based out of your base-placement location.

Training & development

Additional training

You’ll build a strong foundation in commercial banking through structured training, four placements and a degree apprenticeship that blends study with real experience. You’ll also work towards a BSc (Hons) in Applied Retail and Commercial Banking with the University of Exeter. By the end of the programme, you’ll have developed practical banking knowledge, stronger commercial judgement, and the confidence to grow into a client-facing role.

Future prospects

There is an opportunity at the mid point of the apprenticeship to be considered for promotion. On successful completion of the apprenticeship, you’ll have gained a degree, valuable professional experience and a range of skills to support your career at HSBC. You’ll have opportunities to continue developing your skills and explore a range or career paths within the bank, depending on your experience, interests and business opportunities.
