Training & development

You will undertake a 3-month induction programme at the local off-site training facility. Work placements will be based on either the Sellafield site or satellite offices. Academic learning takes place 1 day a week at the training provider's off-site facility. Some pathways include Practical Engineering Operations at the local off-site training facility.

Future prospects

Phase 1: Level 5 ST0380 Nuclear Technician Apprenticeship and Level 5 Foundation Degree/Higher National Diploma (HND) in Engineering or Science. Phase 2 (for candidates with potential): Level 6 ST0289 Nuclear Scientist and Nuclear Engineer Apprenticeship and Level 6 Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (BEng) or Science (BSc) over a further 2-year period.

Things to consider

After completing a Level 5 Apprenticeship, you can progress to a Level 6 apprenticeship with a tailored degree. Progress will be assessed via government standards, evidence folders, and a final independent review to demonstrate your capabilities.
