About the role
As a Apprentice Pastry Chef , you will gain hands-on experience in a professional kitchen while working towards a qualification . Under the guidance of experienced Holroyd Howe chefs, you will learn essential skills, including: Food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and presentation skills Working efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment Understanding and maintaining food hygiene, safety, and allergen regulations Assisting in the production of high-quality meals for students, staff, and special events Learning how to work with fresh, seasonal ingredients to create healthy and delicious dishes Supporting stock control, ordering, and kitchen organisation Essential: A keen interest in cooking and professional catering GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above preferred) – if not already achieved, support will be provided to complete these as part of the apprenticeship A willingness to learn and work towards a Level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship A strong work ethic, enthusiasm, and commitment to training Desirable: Previous kitchen experience (not essential, but beneficial) A Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (if not held, training will be provided) Knowledge of food safety, allergens, and hygiene standards
Requirements
GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above preferred) – if not already achieved, support will be provided to complete these as part of the apprenticeship. A keen interest in cooking and professional catering. A willingness to learn and work towards a Level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship. A strong work ethic, enthusiasm, and commitment to training.
