About the role

A fantastic opportunity to gain a full degree qualification while working in the IT team of an award-winning, multi-national legal practice in Bristol. This 4-year Apprenticeship is a Level 6 programme in which you will gain a BSc (Hons) in Cyber Security from the University of the West of England (UWE). You will gain valuable experience that will enhance your commercial understanding and grow your confidence in a work environment; all whilst earning a salary and paying no tuition fees. The IT team is at the heart of the business with over 50 people passionate about delivering technology. The department is broken into smaller teams, including IT Security, Projects and Programmes, ServiceDesk, Applications and Networks.

Requirements

Minimum of three A Levels (or equivalent) at grade B, preferably in subjects such as IT or Maths, or a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at grade triple Distinction; and Grade C or 4 in GCSE English Language and Maths (or equivalent). Must have a real passion for IT with the ambition and commitment to learn and build a successful career in the technology sector.

Training & development

During the apprenticeship programme you will gain an understanding of the fundamentals of working in the IT Operations and Cyber Security team at Osborne Clarke, with a specific focus on security systems and controls. You will spend time in parts of the wider IT and Risk and Compliance teams to gain a wider understanding of the regulations and challenges facing an international legal practice. You will study the apprenticeship on block release, spending one week per month (and two weeks in September and June) studying on site at Gloucestershire College.
Additional training
The Cyber Security BSc (Hons) programme is taught by UWE Bristol and Gloucestershire College lecturers. Core study areas include: Foundations of cyber security, Network foundations, Information management, Computer architecture, Operating system principles, Legal, regulatory, compliance and standards, Algorithm and program design, and Malware, threats and defensive programming.
Future prospects
You will receive support and guidance throughout your whole apprenticeship from a dedicated line manager and mentor in each of the teams you work with. You will be buddied with one of current IT Degree Apprentices to help you settle in. You will benefit from award-winning HR and career development programme and a dedicated Course Assessor at Gloucestershire College to guide you through the apprenticeship.

Things to consider

This is a block release apprenticeship requiring one week per month on site at Gloucestershire College, plus two weeks in September and June. You will be working in a multi-national legal practice environment alongside your studies.
