About the role

Railway engineering is one of the most important ways that AECOM delivers a better world – we work on huge, complex and challenging railway infrastructure projects that increase urban and inter-city mobility for millions of people. AECOM is a global innovator in high-speed and urban transportation. Recent projects include major track improvements for the Southern Renewals Enterprise in England’s busiest passenger corridors, the Hong Kong–Shenzhen Western Rail Link (Hung Shui Kiu–Qianhai), the Elephant & Castle Station capacity upgrade in London, and key design and asset protection services for Network Rail frameworks across the UK, as well as delivering components of High Speed 2 and supporting global initiatives in sustainable rail. We are looking for graduates who are team players and open thinkers who want to contribute to some of the biggest challenges in transportation infrastructure. Job Responsibilities   As part of AECOM's Apprenticeship Programme, you will gain hands-on experience while studying towards a recognised qualification. Working alongside experienced engineers, designers and digital specialists, you will develop technical skills in CAD and BIM while supporting the delivery of major rail infrastructure projects. You will: Produce and develop 2D and 3D engineering drawings and models using industry-standard CAD and BIM software. Support the development and coordination of multidisciplinary rail designs including civils, track, structures, signalling and MEP systems. Assist with the creation, management and maintenance of BIM models and project information. Ensure drawings and models comply with project standards, industry requirements and client specifications. Support clash detection and design coordination activities across multiple disciplines. Assist with the preparation of technical documentation, drawings and design deliverables. Contribute to digital engineering initiatives and BIM best practice processes. Work closely with engineers, designers and project teams to deliver high-quality project outputs. Develop an understanding of railway engineering, digital delivery and construction methodologies. Participate in formal learning and training activities as part of your apprenticeship programme.
