Learning Mentor Apprenticeship at Chowbent Primary School
About the role
Main Duties:
- Support pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups to address social, emotional and behavioural needs
- Assist in the implementation of the school’s pastoral care and guidance systems
- Support the development and delivery of mentoring, behaviour and support plans
- Help identify pupils who require additional support and intervention
- Monitor and record pupil progress against agreed targets and action plans
- Provide feedback and reports to staff as required
- Liaise effectively with teachers, parents/carers and external agencies where appropriate
- Support the implementation of safeguarding procedures and child protection processes
- Assist in coordinating intervention programmes for vulnerable pupils
- Support pupils who are not following a full timetable or require additional supervision
- Maintain accurate records and documentation relating to pastoral support and safeguarding
- Promote positive behaviour, attendance and engagement with learning
- Contribute to a safe, caring and inclusive learning environment
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions and professional development activities as required
Working week
Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

Training & development
- Completion of the Level 5 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship Standard
- Regular mentoring and support from experienced school staff
- Ongoing progress reviews and development meetings
- Training in safeguarding, behaviour support, pastoral care and mentoring strategies
- Opportunities to develop professional skills within an educational setting
Potential full-time employment for the right candidate upon successful completion of the apprenticeship. This role may also provide progression opportunities into pastoral, safeguarding, inclusion or wider educational support roles.
