About the role

As a Graduate Apprentice Project Manager, you'll work at the heart of the business – learning how commercial construction projects are planned, managed, and delivered. Day to day, you'll be involved in: - Supporting the planning and coordination of live projects - Using digital systems to track progress, manage information, and report on performance - Communicating with clients, suppliers, and site teams - Identifying opportunities to improve how we work — and helping make those improvements happen - Getting out on site across Scotland to see projects first-hand   The qualification: This is a Graduate Apprenticeship in Construction and the Built Environment, delivered through Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. You'll study one day a week during term time and work with us the rest of the time. What's in it for you: A competitive salary from day one A fully funded degree from Heriot-Watt University Real responsibility on live projects — not just admin A forward-thinking business that invests in its people, its processes, and its technology A genuine career path in a sector that's always in demand Who we're looking for: You don't need to know anything about our industry. But you do need to be - - Organised, logical, and switched-on - Good with numbers - Curious — someone who wants to understand how things work and how to improve them - Comfortable talking to people at all levels - Willing to travel to sites across Scotland (a driving licence, or working towards one, is essential) Earn a degree. Build a career. Work somewhere that actually thinks differently: This isn't a traditional construction job. And it's not a traditional construction company. Industrial Roofing Scotland (IRS) is a specialist roofing and cladding contractor working on large commercial and industrial buildings across Scotland. We protect the buildings that keep businesses running — warehouses, factories, logistics centres, and manufacturing facilities. But what sets us apart is how we work. A business that runs on technology: At IRS, digital tools, automation, and AI are part of how we operate every day. We use platforms like monday.com alongside purpose-built workflows and automations to manage projects, serve our clients, and continuously improve how we do things. If you're a logical thinker, a natural problem-solver, or someone who looks at a process and thinks there's a smarter way to do this, you'll thrive here. We're not a company catching up with technology. - Gain an understanding of health, safety, quality, and compliance requirements - On-site and off-site learning opportunities - Gain practical experience and technical knowledge within the roofing and construction industry - Develop the ability to work effectively as part of a team - Learn how to manage time efficiently and meet project deadlines - Gain experience managing materials, labour, and plant throughout the project lifecycle - Develop skills in budget management and stakeholder engagement - Experience a fast-paced and dynamic working environment - Grow in confidence, responsibility, and leadership ability - Enhance problem-solving and decision-making skills - Access clear career progression opportunities within project management - Achieve a range of transferable skills applicable across the construction industry - Build a professional network with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and colleagues - Earn while learning and gain recognised qualifications - Develop communication and organisational skills essential for project success Four Scottish Highers, including English and Maths, or equivalent.
