Nursery Trainee Apprentice
Apprenticeships are open from age 16, once you have finished Year 11 (S4 in Scotland).
About the role
- Support children's learning through play, creativity, and outdoor exploration
- Build warm, caring relationships with children and their families
- Assist with daily routines, including healthy meals, naps, and personal care
- Help plan and deliver fun, engaging indoor and outdoor activities
- Maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating environment for all children
- Follow safeguarding procedures and nursery policies at all times
- Communicate positively with parents, colleagues, and visitors
Working week
30 hours per week (Monday to Friday, set shifts 9am–3:30pm in Year 1). Option to work 40 hours per week on rotating shifts between 8am–5pm and 9am–6pm.

Training & development
Training will take place entirely on-site at the nursery, delivered during regular working hours through a structured blend of practical workplace learning and dedicated study time.
Your training and qualifications will be delivered by Connect2EarlyYears, providing structured learning, 1-to-1 assessor coaching, and dedicated support every step of the way – supporting your clear career progression route from Level 2/3 through to management roles.
Apprentice → Deputy Room Leader → Room Leader → Relief Deputy Manager → Deputy Manager → Nursery Manager.

Things to consider
- Successful completion of an Enhanced DBS check (including a check of the Children's Barred List) prior to starting.
- Reliable transport to reach our nursery setting in Barnet (EN5 5EB).
