Training & development

Training will be delivered through a mix of on-the-job coaching at our Birmingham city centre office and structured learning with your apprenticeship training provider.

  • At work: day-to-day coaching from experienced Energy Consultants and the sales leadership team, including call reviews, role-plays, shadowing and weekly 1:1s
  • Off-the-job training: one day per week (20% of your working hours) set aside for apprenticeship study, coursework and assessments towards the Level 4 Sales Executive standard
  • With your training provider: regular workshops, tutor sessions and online learning, delivered remotely or at the provider's location depending on the module
  • Duration: 18 months, followed by end-point assessment to achieve the Level 4 Sales Executive qualification
Additional training

Additional training information:

The Level 4 Sales Executive apprenticeship is delivered alongside your day-to-day role, so you'll apply what you learn in real time on live accounts and prospects.

  • Structure: the 18-month programme is split into a learning phase (around 15 months) followed by an end-point assessment period (around 3 months), where you'll demonstrate what you've learned through a work-based project, presentation and professional discussion
  • Format: a blend of live workshops, online learning, self-study and one-to-one tutor support, with regular progress reviews involving you, your line manager and your training coach
  • In-house support: you'll be paired with a workplace mentor from our sales team who'll support you through the apprenticeship alongside your training provider
  • Functional Skills: if you don't already have Level 2 English and Maths (GCSE grade 4/C or equivalent), these will be included as part of your apprenticeship at no cost to you
Future prospects

On successful completion of your Level 4 Sales Executive apprenticeship, you'll move into a full Sales Development Representative role at The National Energy Hub on a competitive base salary plus commission (OTE £38,000–£45,000+).

From there, the typical path is:

  • Energy Consultant / Account Manager within 6-12 months of qualifying - owning your own client base, running the full sales cycle and earning OTE of £40,000 - £70,000+
  • Senior Energy Consultant as you build a book of business and develop expertise in procurement, renewables or flexibility
  • Team Lead, Sales Manager or specialist routes into areas like net zero consultancy, sustainability advisory or key account management as the business grows

  • You'll need the right to work in the UK for the full duration of the apprenticeship (18 months minimum)
  • You must be able to commute reliably to our Birmingham city centre office three days per week
  • This role involves significant time on the phone, so a confident and professional telephone manner is essential
  • You'll be expected to follow our data protection and GDPR procedures when handling client information on the CRM
  • Apprenticeship funding rules require you to have lived in the UK or EEA for the past three years (some exceptions apply - check gov.uk for details)
