About the role
This apprenticeship is an exciting one as you will study a range of specialisms including the design and implementation of networks using communications and signal processing, engineering management, and instrumentation and control systems. You'll have the opportunity to tailor the course to your interests, choosing to specialise in your preferred area. The Technology Development Team in Network Rail will support you to ultimately develop, test and manufacture safety critical, high reliability systems used on UK rail infrastructure. We'll teach you how to lead people and teams as well as helping create a safe and sustainable environment for everyone.

Training & development
You will be taught the core knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to get you on the path to achieving your Incorporated Engineer (IEng) qualification. Study includes design and implementation of networks using communications and signal processing, engineering management, and instrumentation and control systems. You'll be guided by Senior Engineering leaders who will help you to grow and develop. You'll get the opportunity to work independently as well as within a team while learning how to thrive in high pressured environments.
Future prospects
Upon completion of the apprenticeship, you can apply for a position as an Electronics Engineer, as well as other Engineering positions within Network Rail. This apprenticeship aligns with Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) for Incorporated Engineer (IEng).
