About the role

As a Data Apprentice at Lloyds Banking Group, you'll learn how to work with big datasets, spot patterns, and turn them into insights that make banking smarter, safer and simpler. You'll begin with a Level 4 Applied Data and AI Specialist apprenticeship with BPP. If you do well and successfully complete this, you'll move on to a degree apprenticeship subject to business agreement. You'll dive into SQL and advanced data joins, predictive modelling & forecasting, data visualisation & storytelling, analytics lifecycles & data democratisation, statistical programming languages, and building data products. Working with one of the UK's biggest digital banks with 23 million customers, you'll help spot patterns that stop fraud, help customers make smarter choices, build dashboards for leaders, and make data accessible and ethical.

Requirements

GCSEs at grade 4-9 in both Maths and English; or Nat 5 at grade A-C in both Maths and English. 3 A Levels at grade BCC; or 4 Highers at grade BBCC. Grades can be predicted but any offer will be conditional upon successful achievement. Must be 18 years old on 1st September 2026 (for Birmingham, Bristol and Leeds) or by end of February 2027 (for Edinburgh). Must currently possess a valid Right to Work in the UK with visa end date extending beyond 4.5 years. Visa sponsorship not available due to salary threshold requirements. Curiosity, energy, and ambition essential.

Working week

Hybrid working with at least two days per week in the office. Apprentices expected to be in office most days during initial settling-in period.

Training & development

Blended learning combining real projects with classroom theory. Level 4 Applied Data and AI Specialist apprenticeship with BPP, with opportunity to progress to degree apprenticeship subject to business agreement. Topics covered include SQL and advanced data joins, predictive modelling & forecasting, data visualisation & storytelling, analytics lifecycles & data democratisation, statistical programming languages, and building data products.
Future prospects
You'll master SQL, Python and other statistical programming languages. You'll gain visualisation skills, forecasting and modelling expertise, AI literacy and applied analytics knowledge, and the ability to turn complexity into clarity. Upon completion, you'll have a fully funded Level 4 apprenticeship in Applied Data and AI and the opportunity to progress to a degree apprenticeship. You'll gain experience working with some of the UK's biggest, most complex datasets.
