About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Student Mentor to join our team on a fixed-term basis until July 2027. The Student Mentor will play an important role in supporting our students to succeed, working closely with curriculum teams, Student Services, Careers and other colleagues to promote positive engagement, attendance, retention and progression. You will have responsibility for a caseload of students and will provide front-line pastoral support, helping students overcome barriers to their learning and make positive progress towards their goals. A key part of the role will be planning and delivering weekly Personal Development sessions, ensuring these are engaging, relevant and appropriate to the needs of the students you support.

Requirements

Experience of working with young people in a support or related role. Experience of delivering group sessions. Experience of working within an educational environment. Experience of providing advice, guidance and/or education to young people or adults. The ability to identify students' needs and develop appropriate responses. Strong communication and presentation skills. The ability to manage challenging behaviour appropriately. A commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion. A genuine commitment to providing an excellent learner experience.

Working week

37 hours per week, term time only
