Apprentice Brewer
About the role
- Move sacks of grain, shift casks, and handle heavy brewing equipment
- Execute thorough cleaning, sanitising, and hygiene routines across all facility equipment and work areas
- Assist with fermentation monitoring, yeast management, and cellar operations
- Carry out repetitive packaging runs across multiple formats (casking, kegging, or bottling)
- Perform regular stock control, ingredient prep, and basic record-keeping
- Work alongside the brewing team to ensure day-to-day operations run safely and smoothly
Working week
30–40 hours per week. A varied role with different processes going on every day, including brewing, cleaning, lifting, and packaging runs.

Training & development
Upon successful completion of the Level 4 Brewer apprenticeship, the candidate can progress into a full-time, permanent role as a qualified Brewer or Technical Brewer.
With experience in a commercial craft brewery setting, future progression routes include:
Senior Brewer / Lead Brewer: Taking overall responsibility for recipe execution, daily brewhouse management, and quality control.
Head Brewer / Brewery Operations Manager: Managing full-scale production schedules, supply chain, team supervision, and site operations.
Specialist Roles: Opportunities to specialise in areas like cellar management, quality assurance, lab testing, continuous improvement, or brand development and recipe creation.

Things to consider
This role requires comfortable handling of heavy physical tasks, continuous manual labour (including lifting grain sacks and moving casks), and prolonged cleaning and sanitising duties within a brewery setting.
