About the role

  • Keeping children safe – supervising and monitoring their wellbeing both in the home and out in the community.
  • Building positive relationships – becoming a trusted, consistent adult and positive role model.
  • Supporting day-to-day life – helping with routines, hygiene, meals, school and bedtime.
  • Promoting independence – teaching life skills and encouraging confidence and resilience.
  • Managing behaviours positively – supporting young people through challenging circumstances using a patient and trauma-informed approach.
  • Activities and outings – taking young people to activities, education, appointments and family visits.
  • Creating a homely environment – cooking, cleaning and helping maintain a safe, comfortable home.
  • Safeguarding – recognising and responding appropriately to concerns about a child's welfare.
  • Recording and reporting – documenting incidents, behaviours and important information.
  • Working shifts – including evenings, weekends, waking nights and/or sleep-ins depending on the home.

Working week

Full time- 12.5 hr Shifts- Working Nights and Days Rolling Rota Week 1-3 Shifts Week 2-4 Shifts

Training & development

Your qualification will be delivered by Acorn Training. You will be expected to attend and engage in your online sessions. Your assigned subject specific tutor will visit your workplace to assess you.
