About the role

Join Saffery as a School Leaver Personal Tax Trainee studying towards the ATT/CTA tax pathway qualification. You'll assist with tax returns, computations and compliance filings for high net worth private clients with UK and offshore interests, property owners, business owners, partnerships and trusts. Work with financial and client data, use specialist software, conduct technical research, prepare reports and documentation, build client relationships, and contribute to delivering accurate tax solutions. The role includes a structured development programme combining professional study with on-the-job learning, mentorship, and a six-week business simulation designed to build professional skills such as teamwork, decision-making and leadership.

Requirements

Minimum of 120 UCAS points from top 3 A Levels or Highers (or equivalent), excluding General Studies and AS Levels. Minimum of 6 (or B) in GCSE or National 5 Maths and English Language (or equivalent). AAT qualified candidates welcome. No prior relevant work experience required. Candidates should be collaborative, responsible, progressive, act with integrity, be approachable, committed, detail-oriented, organised, and have strong financial data management skills.

Training & development

Three years and three months training contract with full support and access to first-class tuition centres. Structured development programme combining professional study with on-the-job learning. Bespoke School Leaver Programme developed with Kaplan includes a six-week business simulation building professional skills. Mentorship, structured training, off-site trainee programmes and regular social events provided throughout.
Future prospects
Upon successful completion, trainees will be qualified as ATT/CTA tax professionals with practical expertise in personal tax compliance and advisory work. Participants gain exposure to diverse industries and sectors, build client relationships, and develop as trusted advisors in tax planning and compliance.
