About the role

As an Operational Research & Analytics Apprentice you will be part of a programme designed to develop the skills required to deliver Sellafield Ltd's current and future missions. In the first 2 years you will learn common elements of engineering such as the application of Maths and Science to engineering design and fundamentals of computer aided engineering including 3D modelling. Operational Research & Analytics apprentices will gain specialist technical knowledge in the following areas: Mathematical Methods, Statistical Analysis, Discrete Event Simulation Modelling, Data Visualisation.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grades 9 to 4 (Grades A* to C) including Mathematics, English Language and 1 Science or Engineering subject. Mathematics GCSE at Grade 6 (Grade B) is essential or Grade C at A Level Mathematics. Minimum of 96 UCAS points at A-Level, T-Level. One STEM subject is required (e.g. Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics or Science or Engineering). Other Level 3 STEM qualifications may be considered. Vocational equivalents at level 3 or higher will also be considered as equivalent to UCAS points. Candidates will be required to achieve appropriate security and medical clearances.

Training & development

Year 1: Full-time academic and engineering studies at a local training provider. Years 2-5: Office-based with continued academic studies at a local training provider. Work placements based at Hinton House, Warrington.
Future prospects
Level 5: ST0380 Nuclear Technician Apprenticeship and Level 5 Foundation Degree/Higher National Diploma (HND) in Engineering or Science. For candidates with potential to progress further: Level 6 ST0289 Nuclear Scientist and Nuclear Engineer Apprenticeship and Level 6 Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (BEng) or Science (BSc) over a further 2-year period.
