About the role
A Degree Apprenticeship programme in Quality & Inspection Engineering. Year 1 involves full-time academic and engineering studies at a local training provider. Years 2-5 involve office-based work at Hinton House, Warrington, while continuing academic studies. You'll work on exciting projects, join a talented community, and help shape Sellafield Ltd's future. Progress is assessed via government standards, evidence folders, and a final independent review.
Requirements
Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), including Maths, English Language, and one Science or Engineering subject. At least 96 UCAS points from A-Level/T-Level, preferably in STEM subjects (Maths, Chemistry, Biology, Physics), but not mandatory. Other Level 3 STEM or Vocational qualifications may be accepted. If lacking A-Level Maths or higher Engineering, you must have a Grade 6 (B) in GCSE Maths. Functional Skills Level 2 is considered equivalent to GCSE Grade 4 (C). Candidates must achieve appropriate security and medical clearances.

Level 5 ST0380 Nuclear Technician Apprenticeship with Level 5 Foundation Degree/HND in Engineering or Science aligned to the pathway. For candidates with progression potential: Level 6 ST0289 Nuclear Scientist and Nuclear Engineer Apprenticeship with Level 6 Bachelor's Degree (BEng or BSc) over a further 2-year period.
Future prospects
Upon completion of Level 5, you will obtain the ST0380 Nuclear Technician Apprenticeship qualification and a Foundation Degree/HND. Candidates with potential can progress to Level 6 with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science.
Things to consider
Passion for STEM subjects and desire for a nuclear engineering career required. After Level 5 completion, you can progress to Level 6 with a tailored degree. Security and medical clearances are required.
